Doron is the project director for an international distributor of Israeli medical devices. He lives with his wife and 3 children in Haifa and has been volunteering for United Hatzalah for the past 4 years. As a trained paramedic whose profession is to bring products of Israeli ingenuity to the medical world at large, Doron always felt he was providing a valuable service to those in need of medical care. However, this idealistic individual realized that there was even more he could contribute, and right here at home, in the Land of Israel. Since Doron joined United Hatzalah, he has personally responded to hundreds of medical emergencies where with his own two hands and skills, has made a real difference in someone’s life.
When Doron receives an emergency call, this dedicated volunteer will jump out of bed or run out of an important business meeting to do everything he can to save a life. One call he will never forget involved a 3 month-old baby boy whose heart had stopped beating. Doron raced to the scene and began CPR on the tiny infant. At that time, Doron himself had a 3 month-old baby boy at home. As he worked with all his strength and skills to save the baby before him, he saw the face of his own son in front of his eyes. He knew how precious his son was to him, and how precious this son must be their parents. For over an hour, Doron and the other medics fought with all available means to save the infant. No effort was spared as they desperately strove to save the child. While the ending was not what Doron had hoped for it drove home the vital importance of United Hatzalah’s vision of immediate emergency medical response for everyone, everywhere.
