Andre Pesikov is a Security Consultant who lives and works in Modi’in. He is married and has been volunteering with United Hatzalah for three years. He feels that there is always a need to save lives in every way that he can. “My family understands what it is that I am doing, and my volunteering helps raise awareness in my family about life-saving,” says Andre. “Every story of someone’s life I save is personal and each one is unique.”
Andre believes that volunteering is the best way to make the world a better place. “Our world will only be perfect after every person realizes that they need to give a little bit of themselves in order to help another without receiving anything in return. In Israel, this altruistic person is often pejoratively call a “frier” or a “sucker”. It does not matter if we are talking about someone who serves in military reserve duty, or a person who runs into danger to save someone else’s life in the middle of the night. I hope that all of our children grow up to become a world of “friers” in the most noble sense of the word.”
