About Gal Israeli

Gal lives in Kibbutz Neve Yam with his wife and two daughters. He is the Security Director for the Carmel Coast Regional Council, working closely with the police, fire department, coast guard and all medical emergency response organizations.  After years in the field, Gal realized that becoming an EMT would greatly enhance his professional and personal life.  In Gal’s own words “There is no greater satisfaction in the world than saving a person’s life.”

One cold and rainy winter evening, a 72 year-old woman and her 3 year-old grandson had gone missing.  The police, aware that Gal knew the area like the back of his hand, asked him to help in the search.  Despite the small chance of finding the missing persons in the expansive and rugged countryside in the dark, Gal, together with his wife, immediately began combing the area.  After 30 minutes they miraculously spotted a shivering and crying young child on the side of the road. His wife attended to the hypothermic 3 year-old and Gal found the grandmother fallen into a mud pit and sank up to her ears in mud, with only her upper face showing.  With great difficulty he extricated the elderly lady from the mire, detected a faint pulse and quickly took them to the police station, where an ambulance was waiting for them.

Fortunately, they both recovered fully.  It is no exaggeration to say, that the elderly woman and child would not have survived much longer if Gal and his wife had not found them.  In Gal’s own words  “I will never forget that day.”
