About Yossi Lieberman

Yossi works as a dispatcher in the United Hatzalah command center, is a father of two, and is a volunteer in the Jerusalem region.  As a young man Yossi’s “luck” often placed him at the scenes of medical emergencies, be it road accidents, terror attacks or other urgent situations.  Time after time he kept feeling the pain of wanting to help but not knowing how.  Not long after his father passed away, as a result of heart failure, Yossi felt the time had finally come to learn emergency medical response.  He enrolled in a United Hatzalah EMT course and has been volunteering for the past 3 years. He then trained as a dispatcher and continues to save lives from the other end of the line.

His job as a dispatcher combined with his volunteering as a medic, keeps Yossi involved in lifesaving activities 24/7.  Once, while at the command center, he received a frantic call from a woman whose husband had cut both his wrists in an attempted suicide.  Yossi calmly explained to the distressed woman how to stop the bleeding.  Yossi’s soothing tone and clear instructions helped the woman regain her composure.  Following Yossi’s directions, the woman significantly slowed down the blood blow.  Two minutes later, United Hatzalah volunteers arrived and completely staunched the bleeding.  The man was rushed to the hospital in serious condition.  Yossi heard later after several blood transfusions, the man’s condition stabilized and he was out of danger.
