About Asher Yampel

Asher is a food division manager of a large supermarket, a father of two and a resident of Bnei Brak.  As a young child, Asher was enamored with medical emergency first responders and dreamt of the day he could join their ranks.  When he was 10 years old, his mother suddenly passed away, shortly after giving birth.  The trauma only strengthened his resolve to learn about lifesaving.  When Asher was 12, he witnessed a man collapse in the street and the subsequent successful CPR by first responders.  After the incident, the curious child asked the medics what they were doing to the man (ie; pounding on his chest etc.). The kind medics explained to the child how they had saved the man’s life.  The young, yet mature, boy resolved that come what may, he was going to be a medic one day.

One day, Asher’s father-in-law had not been feeling well. In the evening, Asher’s mother-in-law requested that Asher come over immediately. Within 2 minutes, he was by his father-in-law’s side, examining him.  The 70 year-old looked very pale, was sweating heavily, and had an irregular pulse and high blood pressure. The experienced medic recognized all the signs of an impending heart attack, and informed his in-laws that they had to go to the hospital immediately.  His father-in-law refused to ride in an ambulance, so Asher drove him there, radioing ahead for the emergency room to be prepared.  As soon as they arrived, specialists examined him and after an EKG, the doctors informed Asher that his father-in-law had just suffered a heart attack and they were doing an immediate emergency catheterization.  Asher’s father-in-law has since recovered completely and Asher is so glad that he could be there for his nearest and dearest.
