Avi works as the chief paramedic of United Hatzalah, training new United Hatzalah volunteers to the highest medical standards. His vital leadership role in United Hatzalah, combined with his volunteer service as a medical emergency first responder, keeps Avi involved in lifesaving activities around the clock and throughout the year. He is married with five children and lives in Petach Tikva.
One Shabbat afternoon Avi was alerted that someone had fallen off a roof. Avi dashed out of his home and raced to the address, finding the man in a crumpled heap on the ground. He had apparently been trying to fix something on the roof when he lost his balance and fell, hitting a rocky ledge before striking the ground. Blood was pouring from a terrible head wound, so the experienced paramedic quickly staunched the man’s bleeding by bandaging his head wound, administering oxygen, setting up an IV line, and taking his vitals. Once the ambulance arrived, the devoted medic followed the man to the hospital to make sure he received the best care possible.
