Noa lives in Tel Aviv and loves singing and running in marathons. A caring and giving person, Noa wanted to really make a difference to other people’s lives and decided to join United Hatzalah. She completed her training about a year ago and immediately began saving lives, responding to calls almost every day! In August she received a United Hatzalah ebike, which helps her to arrive on scenes of emergencies in the quickest time possible.
One day, Noa received an urgent alert from United Hatzalah Command Center <<woman attempting suicide >>. The dedicated volunteer immediately stopped what she was doing and sped off to the scene, arriving in a matter of minutes.
Noa discovered the woman in a severe state of agitation and psychosis, threatening suicide. The police joined the volunteer EMT on scene but the woman was refusing to speak with them. Noa made a split-second decision to approach her with an extra dose of kindness and understanding. Once assured that the patient felt comfortable, she began listening to her concerns and talking to her softly.
The woman responded well to Noa’s warmth and empathy. Noa calmed and reassured the patient while explaining the urgent need to receive medical care. Within a few minutes, the threat of suicide had dissipated. The woman was ready to cooperate with the authorities.
The police and other first responders on scene expressed their deep appreciation to the United Hatzalah volunteer. Her unique capacity to connect with the patient had made all the difference in deescalating the situation and assuring she received the critical follow-up care necessary.
Please enable this amazing volunteer to continue reaching out and saving lives!
